New Developments Ahead!
Dugan Fraser, Program Manager of GEI, just announced IPDET’s new development:
“Since 2000, IPDET has been sharpening the skills of M&E practitioners, policymakers, and researchers. It has successfully built a network of over 4,000 alumni, who continue to champion evidence-based policymaking in their home countries. Starting in 2018, the University of Bern in Switzerland, the Center for Evaluation (CEval) in Germany, and the Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank developed and jointly delivered an excellent M&E training curriculum.
I’m excited to announce that, in 2025, the University of Bern will become the sole implementer of the IPDET Program and will offer two new regional training programs along with the usual summer on-site program in Switzerland. The first will take place in Kenya and is targeted at M&E professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa. The second will be in Morocco, to cater to the Middle East, North Africa, and West Africa regions.
Watch this space to learn more about these regional offerings, together with a newly updated, innovative curriculum, that will make IPDET training even more accessible and inclusive and offer more people, especially those from developing countries, fantastic opportunities to learn from the world’s leading experts in evaluation.”

The International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET) is a globally recognized and respected player in advanced training in the field of evaluation. The courses and workshops are tailored to the needs of professionals who commission, manage, practice or use evaluations.
This unique training program brings together global expertise in evaluation to build foundational and advanced knowledge and skills in evaluation. Over the past years, more than 4000 professionals received training and joined the global and multi-disciplinary IPDET network.
This was the IPDET On-Site 2024!
IPDET On-Site 2024 was held from July 15-26, 2024 at the University of Bern, Switzerland. This year, we proudly welcomed 165 participants from 71 countries. The two-week program empowered our participants as we embarked on a remarkable journey together.
In September, ten participants learned virtually about “Indicator Development”, and in October, a four-day intensive in-house training for the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) was held in Jeddah, supporting the development of evaluation capacities of their evaluation and operational staff.
